In the Summer 2024 project, called "Western Balkans Go Pop & Rock", the WBYO presents the region’s favorite Pop & Rock songs in combination with well-known classical works by Verdi, Villa-Lobos and Mussorgsky. Familiar Pop & Rock songs from Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia and Kosovo have been arranged by young composers/arrangers from the Western Balkans region and EU as part of the Second Open Call for Composition/Orchestra arrangements.
In this summer project we opened the rows for musicians from 17 different countries. There are musicians from the six non-EU Western Balkan countries, their neighbouring countries, EU member states, and abroad. Represented are Albania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, The Netherlands, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey.
