Born in 1978 in Podgorica, Montenegro, Zoran Zakrajšek comes from a family of eminent music educators. After graduating from the lower and secondary music school "Vasa Pavić" in Podgorica, as a talented young musician he continued his education at the Academy of Music in Cetinje where he studied under the tutelage of the esteemed prof. Pavel Aksamit. Under his guidance he obtained his graduate and postgraduate degree with top honors and has received numerous awards at national and international competitions. He also studied in the Netherlands (Maastricht) in the class of prof. Carol Harte (USA) and attended master courses with world-renowned pedagogues in (Klaus Trumpf, Miloslav Gajdos, Duncan McTier, Zoran Marković, Paul Erhard and others). 

Recognized as one of Montenegro's foremost double bass players in classical music, he assumed the role of section leader and principal double bass player of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra (MSO) in 2007. As the leader of the double bass section in the MSO, he had the privilege of performing alongside world-renowned soloists of classical music including Montserrat Caballe, Mischa Maisky, Ivo Pogorelić, Roman Simović, Denis Shapovalov, Stefan Milenković, Carlo Marchione, Miloš Karadaglić and under the guidance of conductors such as Ronald Zollman, Grigory Krasko, Marc Korovitch, Ginter Pihler, Miroslav Homen, Bojan Sudjić, Darinka Matić-Marović, Uroš Lajovic, Miguel Romea, Gordan Nikolić, Mladen Tarbuk among others. He recorded two CD-s, one with MSO and the other with the “No Borders Orchestra” which was published by “Universal music Austria and Deutsche Gramophone”, one of the leading publishing labels in the world for classical music. 

Zoran has frequently been recorded by Montenegro National Television in his capacity of the principal double bass player of MSO, chamber musician and a soloist. He gave recitals on numerous occasions and has also performed as a soloist with the orchestra introducing landmark works from Serge Koussevitzky and Giovanni Bottesini. His chamber music contributions are equally notable, collaborating with some of Montenegro's finest artists, in string ensembles such as “Camerata Montenegrina”, “Montenegro Strings”, “Montenegro Chamber Orchestre” and many others, also co-founding the piano quintet "Parestum". 

His career has seen him represent Montenegro at prestigious international festivals and concert halls worldwide, amongst them "Kotor Art", "A tempo", "Espressivo”, “Ljubljana Festival”, “MIT,” “International Festival Sarajevo Winter”, ” Music in ME”, “Nikšić Guitar Festival”, "Mediterranean notes", "Radial System" in Berlin, "Montenegro National Theater," Montenegro, "Glinka" in St. Petersburg, Russia, "Kolarčeva Zadužbina" in Belgrade, Serbia, “ Meb Sura hall” Ankara, Turkey, “Slovenia Philharmonic hall” and many more. Zakrajšek's commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians is evident in his role at the Music Academy in Cetinje, where he shares his expertise as a prominent Montenegrin artist. 

Additionally, his ongoing collaboration with the "Perast String Festival" through master classes and performances further solidifies his dedication to the advancement of classical music in Montenegro.
