Margreta Häfer began her studies at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” University of Music and Theater with Prof. Peter Bruns. From 2011 to 2015 she studied at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Julian Steckel and completed her advanced master's degree at the Lübeck University of Music with Prof. Troels Svane in 2019. During this time, she also took up a position in the academy of the Hamburg State Opera.
She played various projects under the direction of musicians such as Ton Koopman, Reinhard Goebel, Hille Perl, Wolfgang Rihm, Peter Ruziczka and Jörg Widmann. She received further important musical impulses from David Geringas, Heinrich Schiff, Philippe Muller, Miklós Perényi, Jens Peter Maintz, Alban Gerhardt and many more.
In many years of teaching, she accompenied young adults on their way to university. She was repeatedly asked to be a guest professor at the Young Academy Rostock, where she successfully prepared chamber music works and solo pieces for concerts in group and individual lessons with students and highly gifted young students. She was also invited to rehearse a project with the cello group as a lecturer at the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie.
Margreta played as a soloist with various orchestras such as the Vogtland Philharmonic Greiz/Reichenbach, the Chursächsische Philharmonie Bad Elster, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, and the Karlsbad Symphony Orchestra. In addition to the well-known main cello repertoire, her solo and chamber music program also includes contemporary works by young composers.
In addition to numerous awards at a young age, she won the first prize at the Possehl Music Competition in autumn 2016. She completed her concert exam with Prof. Natalie Clein in 2022. She is playing in the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock as principal performer since October 2021.
