Catherine Myerscough, Violins

NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (D)

The British violinist Catherine Myerscough was born in London in 1986 and has been a member of the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hannover since 2018. As a chamber musician she regularly appears in chamber music series in the NDR and across Germany. Catherine also enjoys working with in education, taking part in educational concerts in the NDR Landesfunkhaus Niedersachsen as well as in outreach projects, for example in several schools. She also teaches privately and coaches youth orchestras in North Germany.

 

Catherine’s first degree she received from Cambridge University where she studied music history. Afterwards she began her studies in violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Krysia Osostowicz. She came to Germany in 2010 in order to study under Heime Müller at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. From 2013 to 2015 she studied at the Orchestra Academy of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and afterwards was awarded a short-term contract there for a further two years.

 

In 2018 she finished her Solo Studies as part of Meisterklasse of Carolin Widmann at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig.
